With spring break coming up and warm weather right around the corner, we could all use a tropical drink. Whether you’re going to sunbathe in the hot Florida sun or you’re staying here in Wisconsin, you can welcome in the summer with an easy and cold drink.
On foodnetwork.com, there is a list of 50 easy summer drink recipes that are sure to amaze your friends at a beach party or just a get together on your front porch.
One of the easiest I found was strawberry limeade.
In a small saucepan, heat up one cup of sugar and one cup of water until the sugar dissolves, creating a thin syrup. While that heats up, save time and cut strawberries in thirds. By the time you’re done cutting them, the syrup should be ready to take off the stove.
While you’re letting that cool, squeeze three to four big limes to make one cup of lime juice. Or to make it even easier, you could just buy already squeezed limejuice and pour a cup of it. I had only bought two limes, and that didn’t make a full cup, so I had to improvise and fill the rest up with lemon juice. It was really sour, though, so it might have been a better idea to just use the lime juice that I had and fill the rest with water.
Mix together the simple syrup, lime juice and strawberries.
If you love sour flavors, you could leave the drink at that. If you like it sweeter, add up to 2 more cups of water to dilute the extra lime flavor.
Pour all of that in a pitcher and serve with ice. Throw a few cut strawberries in each individual serving.
If you’re going on vacation, drink this to cool off from the sun. If you’re staying in Wisconsin, pour yourself a glass of strawberry limeade, close your eyes and imagine just for a moment that you are enjoying a vacation far, far away. I know that’s what I’ll be doing this break.
