Meal plans, local fast food and microwave dinners — these are the only three sources of food available to most college students while living in the dorms.
Not surprisingly, eating from the same cafeteria three times a day gets very old, very quickly, and going out or ordering in can be expensive. So that leaves you and your empty stomach with a never-ending supply of snacks and Easy Mac, of course.
Wrong!
With grocery stores in close proximity, microwave home-cooking is both feasible and remarkably fresh. This recipe uses real, flavor-packed ingredients and is ready in minutes!
“Easy Mac” never tasted so good.
Dorm-Friendly Bacon Mac and Cheese
Recipe inspired by Tasty
Ingredients
½ cup macaroni
½ cup water
Pinch of salt
Splash of milk
¼ cup cheddar cheese
2 strips bacon
Pour macaroni and water into a mug or other microwave-safe container.
Add a pinch of salt, stir.
Microwave for 3-5 minutes, stirring after each minute.
Add the milk and cheese, stir until the cheese is melty. Microwave an additional 30 seconds if necessary.
Heat 2 strips bacon in microwave for 1-3 minutes depending on thickness of bacon. Cover with paper towel to reduce splattering if desired.
Let bacon cool for 1 minute before tearing the slices up into small chunks.
Add to macaroni and cheese mixture and enjoy!
