I miss the old Kanye
Kanye West has been making headlines lately and throughout his whole career. It seems every week he is saying or doing something controversial. A statement or action that draws a line in the sand between the people who love him and the people who don’t.
The one thing that isn’t controversial though is the quality of his music, particularly his earliest releases. Whether it be his thematically cohesive first three albums collectively referred to as “The Education Series,” or his groundbreaking fourth full length album “808s and Heartbreak.”
West’s early music had a universal sound that still managed to break boundaries. Listen to a compilation of it on the Spectator’s Spotify.

Oludare is a fourth-year journalism student and this is his fifth semester on The Spectator. He likes watching basketball and is pretty mediocre at it, but that doesn't stop him from playing it. He has a small but growing record collection and believes Woody Harrelson is a style icon and national treasure — fact not opinion.
