Songs for love and heartbreak
Love songs are tried and true. So many people feel similar things, and having a song to relate to is a good feeling. While Valentine’s Day has already passed, there is a love song I have fallen in love with.
Nicky Youre is a 23-year-old artist from Anaheim, California.
He started to become popular back in Fall 2021. He released the song “Sunroof” which became popular over the 2022 summer and was nominated for “Song of The Summer ” at the MTV Video Music Awards, according to Hollywoodlife magazine.
This song was written while he was pursuing a degree in international business, as he didn’t know if he would be able to make it in the music industry.
“Eyes on You” was released in 2022, which I listened to all summer long. These upbeat songs were discovered by a lot of people on TikTok and Instagram.
Nicky Youre’s new single “Shut Me Up” is one of my new favorite songs. I first heard about it on Instagram. Immediately, I looked it up, but sadly at that point it was not released yet.
I had only heard the chorus before. Feb. 24 it finally came out and it did not disappoint.
“So, help me. Just kiss my lips and shut me up just. Pull me in it’s obvious. I’m sick of overthinking kiss my lips and shut me up,” Nicky Youre sings.
This was the only part I’d heard and I had already fallen in love with the song. It is such a cute song that expresses what overthinkers are feeling.
If only this song had come out on Valentine’s Day. It would have been perfect timing.
This song makes things simple. It just puts the emotions out there. It brings it back to the basics on how one might not know how the other feels or that the connection isn’t as strong as they think, and it makes them overthink everything.
If upbeat happy songs are your thing, I recommend listening to some Nicky Youre songs.
Now on the flip side, breakup songs.
Thomas Day is another artist I discovered on Instagram. He is 19-years-old and from Brentwood, Tenn.
A lot of Thomas Day’s songs are about heartbreak. While a lot of them are more relaxed, sad songs, he just released a new single called “Vicious,” which is an upbeat breakup song.
One of the lyrics is, “I hate the kid you met ‘cause he was way too nice to you and I’ll always be nice to you, but I’m not that kid anymore.”
This is relatable when you still care about someone after everything ends.
The song goes on to say, “I’m hanging on by a thread and you don’t want it to end. I wish we could go back to the way it was, but I’ve got my own eyes, I’ve seen enough of the damage.”
I like how it depicts how you can still care about someone and want what is best for both of you at that point in time.
Whatever Valentine’s Day has brought to your mood, hopefully you have a new song or artist to blast in the car and sing along with.
