Chris KempOfficers dispatched at 10:43 p.m. found 806 Market St. already engulfed in flames, said Sergeant Chad Hoyord of the Eau Claire Police Department. No one was injured.
Four fire engines and 19 firefighters responded to the house, which sustained an estimated $85,000 in damages, according to the Eau Claire Fire Department. The ECFD determined that the building was empty and in the process of being torn down, according to an incident report.
The origin of the fire is unknown, and the cause is suspicious. The incident is under investigation.
