Presentation anxiety

At 12:38 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Hibbard Hall for a report of male who had fainted. Eau Claire emergency medical service personnel also responded. The officer spoke with the male, who was sitting on floor in the front of the classroom. The officer asked the male if he would be able to stand up and go out in the hallway to sit on a bench. The male said he could and was able to do so without any problems.

The EMS personnel arrived and began to assess the male. He said he had fainted in the middle of a presentation and that he had never fainted before. He was not in any pain and did not have a medical history to suggest what may have caused him to faint. Someone caught him before he hit the ground, so he did not sustain any injuries. The male declined to be transported to a hospital, as he said he felt fine by the end of the assessment.

At 6:13 p.m., an officer was dispatched to Murray Hall for a matter regarding the odor of marijuana. He arrived on scene and spoke with the complainant, an RA, who said she had smelled marijuana from the room below hers. Another RA confirmed the odor. She said the residents of the room had had their window open and the smoke had drifted into her room.

The officer went to the wing, but he did not smell marijuana there or outside the door to the room. The officer knocked on the door, and a female, one of the residents of the room, answered. After the officer asked permission to enter the room, saying it was regarding an odor of marijuana, the female allowed him in the room. Once inside, the officer said he could smell marijuana.

There was another person, a male, in the room. The officer noticed that both the male’s and female’s eyes were red and puffy. Both denied having smoked marijuana. They allowed the officer to pat them down, but he found nothing illegal. He asked the female to conduct a search of the room, but she refused. However, both people said they had had contact with police regarding marijuana in the past.
