Greek life here at UW-Eau Claire is off to a great start, and the Greek chapters are excited to share all the upcoming events with the rest of campus. Greek Life in Eau Claire is making strides to better their community and themselves through a number of excellent events and activities.

From Relay for Life to helping clean up the campus area after homecoming, students in Greek Life are working to have a positive impact on the community and make this spring a wonderful one.

The Eau Claire Greek life is all part of a greater community focused on leadership, scholarship, service and friendship. Many members of Greek life are involved in other organizations such as Student Senate, the swimming/diving team, Colleges Against Cancer and the American Marketing Association. Each chapter represents its own ideals and traditions. Members of each chapter are more than willing to talk about their fraternity and sorority and will be on campus actively looking for students who may be interested in learning more about Greek life.

Delta Zeta, founded locally in 1956, is one of the three outstanding sororities on campus. The chapter contributes its time to the Girl Scouts, Chippewa County and Eau Claire County Humane Associations, speech and hearing impairments and the Painted Turtle Camp. Delta Zeta will be in the W.R. Davies Center Feb. 14 selling doughnuts. Be sure to look for them between classes.

Sigma Sigma Sigma is another sorority on campus and came to Eau Claire in 1963. Through the Sigma Sigma Sigma Foundation, these women help support life-enhancing therapeutic play/child life programs at hospitals and other facilities around the country. Tri Sigma will be hosting a game night at 423 Broadway St. on Feb. 6 at 7 p.m.

Alpha Xi Delta was the final sorority to join our campus and has been active here in Eau Claire since 1964. Alpha Xi Delta helps raise awareness of and supports research for autism through Autism Speaks.

The Delta Sigma Phi fraternity has been active here at Eau Claire since 1989. Delta Sigma Phi works with the American Red Cross and participates in Relay for Life. DSP will be hosting a mini golf tournament Feb. 7 and a Super Smash Bros tournament Feb. 13.

Phi Gamma Delta, known as Fiji, is another fraternity and has been on campus since 1975. Phi Gamma Delta also donates its time to the American Red Cross. The chapter is having a clothing drive this week where students can donate clothes in the residence halls.

The newest fraternity on campus, Delta Tau Delta, received its charter just last year, and has been a fantastic addition to the Greek culture on campus. On Feb. 8, the chapter is hosting a movie night and sledding. In addition, Delta Tau Delta will have a casino night Feb. 14.

On March 5, the third Greek Honors Dinner will be held to recognize the 30 men and women of Greek organizations who received the most outstanding grades last semester, and to make a model of their hard work for others in the community.

Furthermore, our campus has a Greek honors society called Order of Omega. The chapter recognizes juniors and seniors who have earned high standards in the areas of scholarship, leadership, service and outreach to the campus community, and strengthens the bonds between Greek chapters on our campus.
