Taylor Swift released her re-record of her fourth album “Red” on Friday, Nov. 12. To say the least, the album has me happy, free, confused and lonely. In the best way — of course.

“Red (Taylor’s Version)” is a compilation of 30 songs. 21 that were featured on the first “Red” album in 2012, and nine new, “from the vault” songs. Here’s the track list:

  1. State of Grace (Taylor’s Version)”
  2. Red (Taylor’s Version)”
  3. Treacherous (Taylor’s Version)”
  4. I Knew You Were Trouble (Taylor’s Version)”
  5. All Too Well (Taylor’s Version)”
  6. 22 (Taylor’s Version)”
  7. I Almost Do (Taylor’s Version)”
  8. We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together (Taylor’s Version)”
  9. Stay Stay Stay (Taylor’s Version)”
  10. The Last Time (Taylor’s Version)”
  11. Holy Ground (Taylor’s Version)”
  12. Sad Beautiful Tragic (Taylor’s Version)”
  13. The Lucky One (Taylor’s Version)”
  14. Everything Has Changed (feat. Ed Sheeran) (Taylor’s Version)”
  15. Starlight (Taylor’s Version)”
  16. Begin Again (Taylor’s Version)”
  17. The Moment I Knew (Taylor’s Version)”
  18. Come Back…Be Here (Taylor’s Version)”
  19. Girl at Home (Taylor’s Version)”
  20. State of Grace (Acoustic Version) (Taylor’s Version)”
  21. Ronan (Taylor’s Version)”
  22. Better Man (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)”
  23. Nothing New (feat. Phoebe Bridgers) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)
  24. Babe (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)”
  25. Message In a Bottle (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)”
  26. I Bet You Think About Me (feat. Chris Stapleton) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)”
  27. Forever Winter (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)”
  28. Run (feat. Ed Sheeran) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)”
  29. The Very First Night (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)”
  30. All Too Well (10 Minute Version) (Taylor’s Version) (From the Vault)“

Now, 30 songs is a lot to unpack, but I have listened to all of them and have worked through my first reactions. Overall, I’d say Taylor’s version is much better than the first — musically and lyrically with the addition of the vault songs.

The first thing I noticed about this album compared to the first one is that it is less produced and sounds genuinely like Taylor. I’ve always felt that “Red,” while it did have Taylor’s songs on it, felt overly produced to cater to the mainstream pop audience.

Taylor’s version is not like that. You can hear the maturity in her voice and the stylistic changes she made to make it her own. I love the subtle differences between the two versions, and I’m sure I’ll pick up on a whole bunch more the more times I listen to it.

As far as which songs are the best, I truly can’t choose a favorite — they are all so good. Instead, I have decided to give you “Red (Taylor’s Version)” song recommendations based on the mood you’re in.

Best songs to dance to

If you feel like dancing, this album has you covered. It is a pop album after all. The songs include a variety of beats and ranges. You have lots of choice when it comes to choosing what you want to dance to. I would recommend “22,” “Holy Ground,” “Girl at Home” or “Message in a Bottle.”

Songs to cry to

This album is about heartbreak and tumultuous love. As such, it offers many songs that will make you cry. If you’re sad, feeling emotional and just need a good cry, songs like “Ronan,” “The Moment I Knew” and both “All Too Well” versions should do the trick.

Songs to listen to while walking

The entire vibe of “Red” screams end of fall into winter, which makes it the perfect album to listen to outside these days. I personally like strolling to the vault songs the best including “Better Man”, “Nothing New” and “Forever Winter.”

To be honest, there’s really not one bad song on “Red (Taylor’s Version).” You should really just set aside two hours and 10 minutes to listen to it in its entirety. I don’t think you’ll regret it.

In conclusion, I’d like to thank Taylor Swift, Scooter Braun and Jake Gyllenhaal for giving us this masterpiece.
