Ah, to be in Monte Carlo: the place or the movie.
“Monte Carlo” is one of those movies my sister and I would watch over and over growing up. There were a lot of different aspects to it, from travel and adventure to romance.
It also reminded me a little bit of “The Parent Trap” movies: in the movie, the main character pretends to be someone else since they look alike.
While the trip does not go as planned, it turns out to be some grand adventure that the three main characters all get to share even if it isn’t what they expected.
Having the three friends all have different personalities gives everyone something to relate to.
You have Grace, the main character, who has wanted to go on the trip to Paris forever. She had tours of famous places and a nice hotel to stay at all planned out. She wanted it all to be perfect, just like she imagined. She put a lot of work in to make it great.
There is also Emma, the more fun friend, that doesn’t need a plan. She is the one who encourages wild adventures.
Finally, there is Meg, Grace’s stepsister, who is forced to come along, more so as the chaperone. She is the rule and plan follower.
The basic premise of the movie is that the three girls go to Paris after Grace graduates from high school. While there, Grace gets mixed up with Cordelia, who is a British socialite.
From there Grace pretends to be Cordelia for a little bit and ends up getting to go to Monte Carlo as part of her pretending.
Rotten Tomatoes only gave the movie a 40%. Personally, I think it should be higher. Yes, this movie came out in 2011 and it might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but I really like it and I think it is a really good, fun and summery movie.
You never know what is going to happen.
Not only is there adventure and mischief, there is also the romance side of the movie. Each of the girls has a different relationship standpoint. Seeing how they develop over the course of the movie is really fun.
The three of them also developed a tight-knit relationship because of everything they go through.
Even though there were a lot of ups and downs, I think it would be really fun to go on a trip like that. You have things planned out but something goes wrong so you just have to go with the flow.
There is a lot that can be learned about people through trips together, especially when they don’t go as planned.
Most of the trips I have gone on were with my family and a few were with sports teams, but they were all pretty planned out.
I think it would be really fun to go somewhere just with friends. Adventure, learn and just be out there. It would be interesting to go on a less planned trip and see what other further adventures lie ahead.
Along with that, Monte Carlo looks beautiful.
It is halfway through the semester, and it is at the point where I think people could use a break.
I am looking forward to breaks and traveling more in the future. For now, we can take a little break by watching movies and reading books.
