“She Said”
Plan B
On my daily workout up the hill to Chancellors, I purposely put “She Said” to play on my iPod. After looking everywhere to make sure people are not looking at me, I catch myself snapping my fingers and doing my strange moves. It makes the hill go much faster, believe me.
“She Said” is sort of hip-hop mixed with soul-pop that really gets me going; even though I don’t work out, this song makes me want to because I just feel like pushing weights simultaneously with the bass beats.
Ha, I wish.
But for real, Plan B, which is actually a rapper called Ben Drew, has many other great tunes on his new album “The Defamation of Strickland Banks” that is worth checking out. And he is British. Enough said, right?
But be aware: “She Said” is extremely catchy and will stay in your head for days.

“The Whip”
Locksley
Locksley may not make the most distinguished or memorable songs, but what they do make is the perfect blend of modern pop-punk and ’60s Britpop that makes it almost impossible not to bop your head or tap your toes.
“The Whip” in particular has a kind of herky-jerky, sing-a-long rhythm that’s just impossibly catchy and manages to capture an intangible sense of joy with simple melodies reminiscent of The Kinks.
It makes me want to break out into a song and a dance routine on my walk to campus, like Joseph Gordon-Levitt in “(500) Days of Summer.”
And for someone who generally has to be forced into dancing, that’s saying something.
Plus, have you seen the dance mash-up to this song that’s been floating around the Internet? Delightful.
