Volleyball wins fifth straight
At Eau Claire the Blugolds won their first Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game of the season with a three-set victory (32-30, 25-12, 25-19) over the Yellowjackets.
After dropping the second set to tie 1-1, Eau Claire won the final two to outlast Superior in WIAC action on Friday evening.
Senior Kelly Schuh led the Blugolds with 15 kills and senior Lauren Sutherland had 35 digs.
Sophomore Jenna Smits added a team-high 29 assists while freshman Maggie Holcombe finished with 21.
Four nights later, the Blugolds won in straight sets against UW-River Falls at home to win their fifth straight match.
The Blugolds won their first match 25-16, 26-24 in a thrilling second match and finally closed out the Falcons 25-17 in the third.
Freshman Katrina Raskie led the Blugolds with nine kills while sophomore Kelly Riesgraf led the squad with a .750 hitting percentage.
Schuh and Sutherland led the team with 14 digs apiece while Holcombe led the match with 18 set-assists.
The red-hot Blugolds will look to continue their streak in St. Louis this weekend as they play in the Washington University (Mo.) Tournament Friday and Saturday.
