Women’s golf finishes seventh at Midwest Classic
Six members of the blugold women’s golf team trekked to Lake City, Minn. this past weekend to compete in the Division III Midwest Classic at The Jewel Golf Club. After two rounds of play the Blugolds’ 678 strokes left them seventh overall out of the 13 teams who competed.
St. Thomas (Minn.) took home first this weekend — rounding off the tournament 30 strokes ahead of the Blugolds with a final score of 648 strokes. Conference rival UW- Stout took home fourth this weekend with 655 strokes.
Returning to the course after being injured, junior Emily Stone was the Blugolds top individual finisher. Stone tied for 8th place with a two-day total of 163 strokes. Stone’s first day of play she shot an 82 and rounded off the tournament with an 81 on day two. Junior Kate Engler finished in 13th place with a tournament total of 164 strokes.
Next weekend, the Blugolds will wrap up the regular season when they compete at the College of Saint Benedict Blazer Invitational (Minn.).
