Women’s volleyball winning streak snapped
Washington 3, Eau Claire 0
At the Washington University (Mo.) tournament in St. Louis, the UW-Eau Claire volleyball team fell to the Bears, ending its five-match winning streak.
After dropping the first and second sets early on, the Blugolds rallied to take down the Bears in a close third set but were defeated (11-25, 16-25, 25-23).
Senior Kelly Schuh and freshman Katrina Raskie led the Blugolds and tied for a team-high six kills, while sophomore Kelly Riesgraf led with five block assists.
Elmhurst 3, Eau Claire 1
The second day of the tournament, the Blugolds fell to Elmhurst (Ill.).
After dropping the first two sets, the Blugolds bounced back in the third with a 25-15 win, but were unable to defeat Elmhurst in the fourth set.
Schuh led the Blugolds with 18 kills while freshman Mackenzee Pierog chipped in with nine.
Senior Lauren Sutherland led on defense with 14 digs.
Eau Claire 3, Millikin 0
The Blugolds came back to sweep Millikin (Ill.) in a three-set victory (25-21, 25-23, 27-25).
Schuh once again led the Blugolds with ten kills while Pierog chipped in seven and Riesgraf and Raskie each added six of their own kills.
Eau Claire moves to 10-8 (2-0)
The Blugolds will be back in action Wednesday night at UW-La Crosse.
