Swimmers fall to La Crosse
The UW-Eau Claire men’s swimming and diving team hosted UW-La Crosse this past weekend.
The Blugolds lost to La Crosse 73-170, but there were several Blugolds who captured top-three finishes.
Senior Alex Card took first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 49.26 seconds. Sophomore Nick Stern brought home a second-place finish in the 1,000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:31.64
The Blugold 200-yard medley relay team of freshman Ben Fisher, Reed Molander, Ryan Young and senior Ben Epperly finished in second place.
Women’s team
The women’s team played host to La Crosse as well and lost 90-162. The women were also able to notch several top-three finishes.
In the 1,000-yard freestyle, junior Lisa Reed had a time of 11:21.08, which was good enough for first-place.
Also finishing in first place was freshman Elissa Hermsen in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.90 seconds.
On the diving board, sophomore Amanda Baker won the three-meter dive with a score of 251.85.
Both the men and the women will take on Minnesota-Moorhead on Friday, Nov. 22.
