Success at the line leads to win for women’s basketball team
It came down to executing free throws down the stretch, and sophomore guard Teenie Lichtfuss and the rest of the UW-Eau Claire women’s basketball team did just that.
The Blugolds went 14-15 from the charity stripe in the second half, including a perfect 8-8 from Lichtfuss, to seal a 57-47 victory Saturday on the road at UW-La Crosse.
Lichtfuss led the team in scoring with 13 points and was also a defensive force as she recorded nine steals.
Freshman guard Bree Meier scored a career-high seven points in the game, including two huge 3-pointers.
The win moved Eau Claire into a sixth-place tie in the WIAC. The top six teams in the league qualify for the conference tournament at the end of the month.
