Soccer shutout on Senior Day
Second-half goal spoils Teighlor Tvedt’s senior ceremony
The UW-Eau Claire women’s soccer team fell 1-0 on Saturday to UW-Oshkosh at Bollinger Field with a second-half goal being the difference in the game.
With 29 minutes remaining in the contest, Oshkosh sophomore Rachel Elliott tapped in the blocked shot of her teammate Felicia Retrum.
After a promising first half from the Blugolds, the Titans were able to capitalize on the momentum shift that occurred after halftime.
The Blugolds controlled the ball early in the game, creating many chances in the first half. With 15 minutes left in the first half, senior Teighlor Tvedt sent a powerful strike toward goal, forcing the Oshkosh keeper to make a leaping save.
Eau Claire coach Sean Yengo said his team did not build on the energy they displayed in the first 45 minutes.
“I think part of it was we got away from our game plan,” Yengo said.
It was Senior Day for the Blugolds, and the team honored Tvedt, the lone senior on the squad, after the game.
The loss brings the Blugolds record to 4-9-1 with a 2-3 record in conference play. They have two road games next week playing at St. Thomas in St. Paul on Wednesday and at UW-Platteville on Saturday.
