In desperate need to stop the bleeding, Tonja Englund turned to her star point guard to serve as a band-aid.

And she delivered. Teenie Lichtfuss scored 16 points to lead the UW-Eau Claire women’s basketball team to a much-needed 64-59 victory over the UW-Superior Yellowjackets Wednesday night in Zorn Arena.

The win brought the Blugolds back to within sniffing distance of first-place in the WIAC after losing two straight.

Abby Midtlien scored 15 points while Courtney Lewis had 12 points, seven rebounds and six assists.

The Blugolds were 9-of-19 from the 3-point line.

Up next is a bout with UW-Whitewater Saturday night in Zorn Arena.
